GM Reveals 2024 Chevy Blazer EV and Promises Full Details on July 18th

GM CEO Mary Barra just unveiled the forthcoming Blazer EV, and it's a beauty. I like the style, but I still wish GM would have produced the off-roader Blazer from the 1970s and 1980s instead of the people mover from the 1990s.

This is only a preliminary look at the car. Chevrolet will release further specifics at its formal launch on July 18, and it will be on sale in the spring of 2023.

Chevrolet Chevy Blazer SS EV Back View

The model shown above is the Blazer SS, which Chevrolet describes as a high-performance electrified SUV. Big wheels, dramatic lighting accents, and sharply contoured body sides definitely set the EV out, but the design doesn't deviate too much from the present Blazer SUV. Excellent work.

Unfortunately, we don't know much about the new Blazer EV. It will be constructed on GM's revolutionary Ultium battery architecture and will be on sale in April 2023.

The Blazer EV is one of many new electric cars that Chevrolet plans to release in the future years. In addition to the Silverado EV truck, Chevrolet has stated that it would sell an Equinox EV starting at approximately $30,000. The Equinox, like the Blazer, is also expected to hit showroom floors in 2023.

Since 1961, Chevrolet has provided a trademark performance option package known as Super Sport. It suggests, and the new full picture of the Blazer EV SS confirms, that the first EV Blazer will be far more expensive than the $30,000 Equinox.

Taking a page out of Tesla CEO - Elon Musk's book, Mary tweeted this reveal via her personal Twitter account:

GM is finally releasing some of the Ultium EVs that CEO Mary Barra has been promising for years. GMC began the year with a limited supply of Hummer EVs. GM's Spring Hill plant has recently begun producing Cadillac Lyriq (which we'll get our first drive in later this month). Of course, the aforementioned Silverado and Equinox will be available in 2023. The company intends to invest $7 billion in EVs and sell one million EVs per year by 2025. So far, GM seems to be living up to that promise.
