The Tesla Cybertruck has been delayed time after time since its initial debut in 2019 and Tesla’s new factory in Texas has people wondering if that is the cause of all of the Tesla production delays. The answer is yes and the answer is no.
The Tesla Cybertruck will be produced at Tesla’s brand new factory in Austin, Texas. The factory, called the Gigafactory Texas, has over 10 million square feet of factory floor and it is going to be used to manufacture the Model Y. Then, it will eventually be the new home of the Cybertruck which is estimated to begin production in mid-2023.
Currently, Tesla is still trying to begin production of the Model Y at the Gigafactory, which is putting a wrench in Tesla’s plans to begin the production of the Cybertruck. It seems that these two changes and delays are linked to one another.
The Gigafactory is not only a massive Tesla factory, it is the new Tesla HQ. The property offers engineering, manufacturing, operations, and construction as well as manufacturing. While the Tesla Cybertruck will definitely be made at the Gigafactory Texas, the only question that remains to be answered is when the Cybertruck will start being produced for sure.
