The Tesla Cybertruck was unveiled as a sleek, futuristic vehicle. It was supposed to be the first electric pickup truck available on the market until it wasn’t. Repeated delays to its production schedule have allowed for the Tesla Cybertruck to get passed up by other electric pickup trucks that are now hitting the market.
All of this occurs while we still wait for more specific information to come out about the Tesla Cybertruck which has been displayed as a stainless steel gray exoskeleton. One question that comes to mind more than most is: Is gray metal the only color that the Cybertruck will be?
This question is a very frustrating one to find the answer to and it's possible that you have been searching for the answer since Elon Musk revealed the Tesla Cybertruck in 2019.
The unfortunate thing is that the most recent answer that we’ve gotten to this question so far came in December 2021, when Tesla Inc.'s CEO answered that Tesla doesn’t plan to offer any color or wrap for the Cybertruck, “at first”.
This is because the outside of the Tesla Cybertruck is meant to be stainless steel to provide protection as a safety feature. Finding a way to create a colored version of this exterior could be very difficult and stainless steel is not very easy to paint over.
The good news is that this newest answer is a better answer than the previous statement from Musk. He had previously stated that Cybertruck owners would have to wrap their Cybertruck to change the color, so this new answer provides at least a little bit more hope.
