The Lucid Air is a solid electric vehicle that has wrestled the crown of most extended range from Tesla. With actual deliveries to customers started, this is a good time to see what the EV has to offer. Read on to see the specs, features, and price of the Lucid Air.
Battery, Range, and Charging Time
This is one of the biggest selling points of the electric sedan. The Dream Edition trim can last 520 miles on a single charge, according to the EPA. Apart from the 112 kWh battery, you have the fine-tuning done by the design team over the years for the range. The second-longest range car is the Tesla Model S Long Range, which lasts 405 miles, slightly lower than the 406 miles offered by the Air's lowest trim, the Pure.
On DC, the top trim will receive up to 300 kW of power, which translates to about 300 miles in 20 minutes. On AC, the EV will take 19.2 kW. As a perk, owners of the Air will charge for free at Electrify America's charging stations for three years.
Electric Motor Performance
As a high-end electric vehicle, the Lucid Air does not disappoint with performance. The base model uses a single electric motor on the rear wheels which produces 480 hp, but the other trims use a dual-motor system. The Touring trim produces 650 hp, while the Grand Touring outputs 800 hp. If you splurge on the Dream trim, you will get 933 hp. However, there is an even more powerful trim that produces 1111 hp.
The fastest Air will complete a quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds at 144 mph and do 0 to 60 mph under 3 seconds.
Interior and Infotainment
The interior of the Air matches the high sticker price. Lucid used handsome, high-quality, and rich-looking materials to outfit the cabin. The backseat is incredibly airy and comfortable, with seating for three. There is even an option for Executive Rear Seating that adds more reclining options.
The roof is made mainly of glass that lets you watch the sky. You will have two screens for the dashboard and a retractable lower touchscreen that is placed lower than in most other cars.
Lucid boasts the front trunk is the largest of any electric vehicle, and that is in addition to the almost cavernous space in the trunk.
The Lucid Air has a premium audio system that is finely tuned for the space in the cabin. You can also use voice to control some of the settings.
Add-ons and Perks
Lucid has included safety features like forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist.
The powertrain has an eight-year or 100,000 miles warranty.
Cost
The Lucid Air Pure starts from $77,400, while the top trim, which Lucid released first, the Lucid Air Dream Edition, starts from $169,000. In between, you can get the Air Touring starting from $95,000 or the Air Grand Touring starting from $139,000.
