If you are looking to start working for Tesla, you might be wondering about the different shifts that Tesla employees are expected to work. This can also be an interesting tidbit to know if you are curious about Tesla’s working conditions for their employees. So, what time are Tesla shifts at and when are employees expected to work?

This answer can vary significantly depending on the type of work that an individual employee is doing for Tesla. There are a wide variety of job positions that are held by Tesla employees.

In this blog post, we will dive into the world of working for Tesla. Some of the topics that we will cover include the time that Tesla shifts start and end, how many hours Tesla employees work, and more!

What Are the Working Hours for Tesla Employees?

This information is closely safeguarded by Tesla, however, it is easy to find reports from current and former Tesla employees on sites like Indeed and Reddit.

According to these reports, it seems like Tesla’s factory shifts are worked in 12-hour bunches. Some examples of working hours for factory production roles are 6 am to 6 pm as a “day shift” and “6pm to 6 am” as a night shift. In this regard, Tesla’s factory production is running for 24 hours.

It seems like most weeks, Tesla factories are run on a four-12s schedule. Rather than working for 5 days out of a week, and having the traditional weekend off, the factory employees usually have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.

Other examples of factory work schedules from current and former employees include; 5 am to 5 pm, and 7 am to 6 pm. The factory workers are organized into letter-grouped shift schedules that alternate. This way, certain employees can have other days off and have flexibility.

For Tesla service and other office positions, shift hours seem to be fairly standard American work times. These shifts are typically 9 am to 5 pm for 5 days a week.

Unfortunately, not much information on working hours is available online for those employees of Tesla that work on a salary basis. It may be safe to assume that these employees are expected to work flexible hours. This is the case for most professionals in America that are hired on a yearly salary basis.

How Many Hours Do Tesla Employees Work?

With Tesla factory workers working consistent 4 days of 12-hour shifts with 3 days off, these employees are always working overtime. They work for 48 hours a week, which is over the full-time work standard for Americans of 40 hours per week.

The other employees of Tesla that work in service and office jobs seem to work 8 hours a day. This is a total of 40 hours a week which is standard.  Most reports of workers who are on this schedule do note that their position is subject to working overtime on weekends at times, however.

Conclusion

To conclude, the shifts that Tesla employees are expected to work can vary greatly by position. Depending on what your job title is, you can be expected to work a full 8 hours more per week than other Tesla workers.
